JCYF SUPPORTS THE YOUTH THROUGH THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS IN THE JENNINGS COUNTY COMMUNITY!
The youth foundation proudly supports the Jennings County Parks and Recreation Department through events at the Muscatuck County Park and donating to the Playground Equipment Fund. A total of $1,694.50 was donated to the park in 2017 for the toddler equipment and $1,230 donated in 2018 from proceeds raised at the Fermentation Celebration swag raffle.
The youth foundation partners with the North Vernon City Park each summer to host the Summer Kids Camp as well as hosting other events from time to time. In 2017 the foundation donated $500 to cover the cost of recreational activities for families in need of assistance.
The youth symposium, was the successful first step in an ongoing effort to focus on the youth of Jennings County. Twenty Two organizations attended on July 11, 2016 at the Jennings County Middle School. There were multiple representatives from several of the agencies in attendance. A guiding team was formed called YES the youth empowerment system.
Affordable Christmas is a project developed by a non-profit group called Mission St. Louis to empower families to provide an exciting holiday for them in a dignified way. The store, run by volunteers provides the opportunity for parents and other caregivers to purchase new gifts that have been donated by the community at affordable and significantly reduced prices. JCYF is pleased to bring this concept to life in Jennings County.
The primary focus of the Summer Kids Camp program is to provide an affordable week-long summer day camp experience for the youth of Jennings County. Day camp offers youngsters a chance to participate in a wide variety of sports and activities and provides leadership as well as mentoring opportunities for the older youth.
The Jennings County Youth Foundation has been participating in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) since 2016. SFSP is a USDA and US Dept of Education sponsored program whose goal is to provide healthy well-balanced meals to youth during the summer. Jennings County qualifies for the program because of our income and free/reduced lunch rates. JCYF is a sponsor, currently supporting 2 sites, Latchkey at NVE (run by Imagination Daycare) and CSL (run by FLASH).
The charity swag raffle was conducted by the youth foundation and featured a variety of items.
Zombiefest is an annual fundraiser to raise money to support the Jennings County Youth.
6 local charitable groups and youth serving organizations competed to win the JCYF van during this giveaway.
