Twenty Two organizations attended on July 11, 2016 at the Jennings County Middle School. There were multiple representatives from several of the agencies in attendance. Affordable Christmas is a project developed by a non-profit group called Mission St. Louis to empower families to provide an exciting holiday for them in a dignified way. The store, run by volunteers provides the opportunity for parents and other caregivers to purchase new gifts that have been donated by the community at affordable and significantly reduced prices. JCYF is pleased to bring this concept to life in Jennings County.
The primary focus of the Summer Kids Camp program is to provide an affordable week-long summer day camp experience for the youth of Jennings County. Day camp offers youngsters a chance to participate in a wide variety of sports and activities and provides leadership as well as mentoring opportunities for the older youth.
The Jennings County Youth Foundation has been participating in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) since 2016. SFSP is a USDA and US Dept of Education sponsored program whose goal is to provide healthy well-balanced meals to youth during the summer. Jennings County qualifies for the program because of our income and free/reduced lunch rates. JCYF is a sponsor, currently supporting 2 sites, Latchkey at NVE (run by Imagination Daycare) and CSL (run by FLASH).
