This #GivingTuesday be a part of the movement and help make an impact on Jennings County youth. We're fundraising to support our four yearly programs.
Will you help us reach our goal of $15,000?
JCYF is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization ran completely by volunteers. Because of generous donors and supporters like you, we have been serving Jennings County youth since 2010. Our organization has 4 main programs that we use to support the youth: Summer Food Program, Summer Kids Camp, Thanksgiving for Everyone, and Affordable Christmas. Last year, we also donated $5,000 worth of snacks to Jennings County Schools and raised $15,000 to start Boys & Girls Club programming in two Jennings County schools that did not have after-school care.
For the last 5 years, the Summer Food Program has provided free, hot meals for children throughout the summer. We had 3 sites last summer at NVE, CSL, and First Baptist Church. Thanks to the many organizations, volunteers, and donors we were able to serve 12,926 meals to children in 2019. We spend about $30,000 to run this program every year.
Summer Kids Camp is a 5 day camp from 8AM-5PM offered to K-6 graders. Older children can volunteer as camp counselors. Thanks to your generous donations more than 75 daily campers were able to enjoy a magic show, Kona Ice, bouncy houses, a trip to the Park Theater, and many more fun activities. We spend about $5,000 each year to run this program.
In partnership with the Scipio Student Council, we began a new program last year to ensure no child went hungry on Thanksgiving. We provided 129 free meals to members of our community. This program also provided a hands-on service learning experience for many youth volunteers. It costs about $2,000 to run this program.
At our Affordable Christmas store parents purchase gifts for their kids at 75%+ off retail value. Nothing costs more than $20. With your donations we can purchase more higher value gifts like hoverboards, bikes, gaming systems, Legos, etc. We helped provide 1,024 kids with gifts last year. We spend about $20,000 to run this program each year.
