The Affordable Christmas toy store was held on Sunday, December 17, 2017. It was a one day, first-come, first serve event run entirely by volunteers.
We had a record number of donations this year, thanks to some super energized volunteers, totaling over $40,000 in inventory. Even better, we brought in donations from outside our community, helping to enrich Jennings County.
111 volunteers worked helped at the Affordable Christmas.
We had over 170 families that shopped.
We were able to serve over 700 kids, which is up from 587 last year.
We collected $7,522 from shoppers through purchases to start next year’s fund (in addition to leftover inventory).
The following are some of the comments from the community when asked what they thought about the Affordable Christmas.
It was affordable.
I could have never provided this much for my family otherwise.
My wife and I both work hard every day but there is just not enough to go around.
Others commented how much they appreciated the youth foundation and the volunteers.
Take a look at some behind the scene photos. Volunteers put many hours into preparing for the Affordable Christmas every year.
