The PUBLIC Toy Sale is set for Saturday 12/15/18 from 8 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 5 pm in the Jennings County Community Building at the Fairgrounds!
The Affordable Christmas toy store is run entirely by volunteers with donations from the community. It is a one day, first-come, first serve event where toys are available to purchase (Cash Only) for youth aged birth to 18 years old at significantly reduced prices (up to 75% discount). There is a limit of 3 toys per child or $20 per child. Toys that retail for $20 are only $5 and there are many toys that are 2 for $1 that do not count toward the per child limit! There will be free gift wrapping available by members of the Jennings County 4H Barefoot Bandits club.
There are no guidelines and no qualifications. Volunteers will serve families in Jennings County with limited resources during the holidays. This program is intended to help those who do not qualify for or who missed the deadlines for other programs or are too proud to ask for help, and empowers families and lets them participate in the Christmas spirit in a dignified way by providing a hand up not a handout.
Improvements to this year’s program include a change in location to the fairgrounds, where the space is larger and able to accommodate more people and address handicap accessibility concerns. A numbering system will be used to prevent shoppers from cutting in line or moving out of order or saving places for other shoppers. The event was also moved to Saturday instead of Sunday as it’s been the past few years with extended shopping hours with a break for volunteers to restock and refuel.
The goal is to have $40,000 worth of toys and gifts available for sale to these families. Funds collected from last year’s sale, totaling over $7,500, along with several grants already received this month, including the local Walmart and the Jennings County Community Foundation, have kick-started the fundraising efforts but additional donations are needed to reach this year’s goal.
The Jennings County Youth Foundation is a 501©3 nonprofit organization that was founded in 2010. All donations are tax-deductible and greatly appreciated.
Please consider helping us with this event. How can you help?
1. Host a toy drive. Note: We only sell new toys at the toy store.

3. Donate money for the youth foundation to purchase new toys.

If you have already donated or are collecting toys for the program, thank you. Your help is greatly appreciated. We recognize that many hands go into hosting this program and are continually amazed by the support from our community! If you have any questions or need to make arrangements to make a donation or to volunteer, please do not hesitate to contact us at 812-718-2088.
